Petrol Storage Tanks – Above Ground
Vectec supply above ground petrol storage tanks to a maximum height of 800mm to allow for safe gravity fed deliveries from fuel tankers. The tanks are fireproofed, bunded to 110% capacity and built with lockable steel cabinets. The tanks are supplied with high accuracy T-piece dip sticks and come as standard with mechanical hand pumps. Powered ATEX rated fuel pumps with automatic nozzles are also available either within the tank cabinet or freestanding alongside the tank.
Vectec can supply petrol storage solutions above and below ground. Above ground petrol tanks can be supplied as steel bunded units up to 2,950 litre in capacity (any larger above ground capacities must be stored in tanks encased in concrete according to the APEA Blue Book 4th Edition 2018).
Following the emergence of Hybrid engines, Petrol storage has become more and more frequent in the commercial fuelling sector. Special care must be taken in the design, installation and maintenance of a Petrol refuelling facility due to Petrol’s low flashpoint temperature.

Vectec can supply clients with either onsite or desktop DSEAR risk assessments, alongside safe operating method statements as part of the handover service with the new petrol fuelling facility. The team can also handle the process of acquiring a client’s petroleum license from the local fire or trading standards authority.
